The Wellesley Apple Jacks Jr C Hockey Club is a member of the OHA Midwestern Jr C Hockey League. The league is open to players 17 to 20 years of age with each team being allowed one 16 year old and four 21 year old over agers.
Wellesley has been a member of the OHA for 29 years and two years ago moved from Jr D to Jr C. The team is a not for profit, community based team operated entirely by volunteers.
Our goal, along with coaching the players on ice, is to integrate the players into the community by attending all community events held during the hockey season. This is a great learning experience for the players as they learn many important social skills as well as participating in giving back to the community. Some of the events we attend are elementary school visits, daycare visits, library readings and taking part in our annual Christmas Tyme parade and tree lighting. The team also plays in our village annual fundraiser slow-pitch tournament where all proceeds go to the local Lions Club. The Jacks have also held Breast Cancer benefit games, Teddy Bear tosses for the local hospital and charities, and team up with our local Minor Hockey Association in promoting fun on the ice for the younger groups affiliated with minor hockey.
The team is very fortunate to have a group of sponsors who feel the same as the organization does. Our sponsors believe that Jr Hockey is a very important tool for our young people to use as a stepping stone to becoming an active role model for the youth of our community. The Wellesley Apple Jacks wish to thank ARES Staffing Solutions for believing in our goal by becoming a sponsor of our team for the 2015-2016 season. Without the support of ARES Staffing Solutions and our other sponsors we would not be able to achieve our goal.
THANK YOU ARES!
“ARES is proud to support the Apple Jacks. Being able to contribute to the creation of great memories along with helping the communities of Waterloo and Wellesley is important and meaningful to us.” Art Gray, Director of Sales
