March 3rd at the 18th Metropolis Conference: ARES and TRIEC presented a workshop with the City of Toronto and Labour Market Analyst Tom Zizys on Employer Strategies To Support Immigrant Employment.
The workshop covered recent research into employer-focused strategies for better labour market outcomes for skilled immigrants. The panel showcased innovative and coordinated, sector-based approaches that promise to change the landscape of immigrant inclusion.
Anita Sampson Binder, Vice President of Recruitment Strategy and Delivery, spoke to ethical recruitment and the role that recruitment firms must play to support good HR practice while being profitable. She demonstrated how ARES positively impacts immigrant hiring by providing education to employers to protect both clients and workers in a legally defensible manner. She presented ARES’ partnership with TRIEC and other immigrant serving agencies to support employers to recognize and hire immigrant talent.
